The Housing Authority of the County of Jackson (JCHA) is seeking a reliable and motivated Part-Time Maintenance Mechanic to support our Low-Income Public Housing (LIPH) property. This position plays a vital role in maintaining safe, clean, and well-functioning housing for our residents and may lead to a full-time opportunity for the right candidate.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and minor HVAC-related tasks
Respond promptly and professionally to work orders and resident maintenance requests
Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with HUD regulations, safety standards, and local codes
Maintain common areas, grounds, and mechanical spaces in a clean and orderly condition
Assist with unit turnovers , including cleaning, painting, and minor renovations
Identify maintenance issues proactively and report larger repair needs as necessary
Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related field
Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Valid driver’s license preferred

Salary/Compensation: $14.00 per hour
