Job Title: Traveling Superintendent – Commercial & Industrial Construction

Location: Based in Charlotte, NC (Travel Required)

Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 annually (DOE) + Truck Allowance/Company Truck + Travel Expenses

Our client is a well-established and highly respected general contractor based in Charlotte, North Carolina. They specialize in a diverse range of commercial and industrial construction projects, including tilt-wall warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, and food storage facilities. As they continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to manage and oversee construction projects across multiple locations.

Position Overview:

The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects across various sites, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position will involve significant travel to project sites throughout the region, with a primary focus on tilt-wall warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, and food storage facilities.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced superintendent with a strong background in commercial and industrial construction, particularly in managing large-scale projects from the ground up. You will play a crucial role in leading on-site teams, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining the highest safety and quality standards on all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all daily construction activities on tilt-wall warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing facility, office building, and food storage facility projects.
  • Ensure construction is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, ensuring proper work scheduling, material procurement, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Perform daily site inspections to ensure work is being performed according to plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with OSHA standards on every project site.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues and conflicts, ensuring that work continues without significant delays.
  • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to keep everyone informed on project progress, timelines, and potential issues.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily logs, timecards, and change orders.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and materials, managing logistics and inventory as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial and industrial construction, specifically in tilt-wall warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, and food storage facilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction processes, including concrete, steel, and site work.
  • Proven ability to manage and supervise large, complex projects from inception to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently to different project locations across the region.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Ability to adapt to various project types and environments.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, etc.) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required.
