Brown & Brown is seeking an Employee Benefits Marketing Underwriter to join our growing team in Carmel, IN .

The Marketing Underwriter supports the achievement of department goals by providing analytical and strategic support to producers, account managers, and clients. Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring various reports, such as loss ratio, exposure, projection, and retention reports, and offering insights to guide business decisions. The role also involves performing additional duties as needed to support client services during peak periods, including coverage for absent teammates. This position is primarily based in an office setting and plays a key role in delivering data-driven solutions and maintaining strong client relationships.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Review and analyze client financials and claims reports to determine best plan options as well as rates.
  • Analyze claims date to recommend target areas for cost containment.
  • Gather data and reports to formulate RFP's for our clients to external vendors.
  • Compile information as necessary for Underwriter/Analyst to construct RFPs.
  • Receive customer requests by telephone, email and fax, analyze requests, and provide information requested within a reasonable period of time.
  • Preserve and strengthen relationships with clients through good communication and customer service.
  • Maintain constant and open communication lines between the Producer, Account Manager, Administrative and all staff.
  • Timely notification to Producer and Account Manager of any sensitive issues happening with their clients.
  • Assist with reviewing proposal materials (spreadsheet, BB Proposal, Market Comparisons and updating information, and re-marketing client when needed.
  • Precise following of I/O procedures in regard to entering and assigning activities, following protocol in all workflows and ALWAYS using resources and staff correctly to complete the above tasks.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • State of Indiana Life & Health Insurance License (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Skills & Experience to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Teamwork: Actively supports team members and contributes to collective success.
  • Analytical Skills: Able to interpret data and recommend cost-effective plan changes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and mathematics required.

  • Initiative: Proactively seeks opportunities for growth, takes on responsibilities, and offers support to others.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates strong focus on quality and accuracy in all work.
