Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lab Assistant – 3rd Shift to perform routine laboratory support functions with accuracy and efficiency. This position ensures smooth operations by assisting professional staff, maintaining equipment, and handling specimen processing.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory.
Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated equipment.
Conduct specimen preparation including centrifuging, aliquoting, slide prep, and inoculation.
Maintain laboratory supplies such as reagents and media.
Complete QA/QC duties, resolve pending lists, and locate missing samples.
Perform decontamination of work areas and radioactive wipe tests.
Manage specimen storage, retrieval, and record-keeping.
Handle gas cylinder changes and biohazard waste disposal.
Operate the laboratory computer system and standard PCs.
Follow all PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations.
Support training and competency checklist completion.
Required Experience & Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical assistant training helpful.
Math and science coursework preferred.
No prior laboratory experience required.
Required Skills:
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities.
Strong retention of learned information.
Professional and respectful interaction with coworkers and customers.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with laboratory operations.
Basic computer proficiency.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Additional Skills:
Centrifuge operation
Specimen sorting and labeling
Safety and compliance awareness
