Title: Linguist
Locations: Burlingame, CA or Redmond, WA
🔍 Position Summary
We are seeking a Linguist III to support the development of language components for next-generation voice-enabled technologies. This role involves linguistic data analysis, LLM-powered data synthesis, annotation, prompt engineering , and quality evaluation.
🧠 Key Responsibilities
- Provide linguistic expertise for data powering large language models.
- Partner with linguistic + data operations teams on data collection, curation, and annotation.
- Evaluate and curate datasets for ML model training using LLM tools.
- Assess data quality and model performance.
- Perform prompt engineering tasks.
- Create annotation guidelines enabling high-quality, consistent labeling.
- Develop complex linguistic analyses collaboratively.
- Encode rule-based linguistic patterns (e.g., using regex ).
🎓 Required Qualifications
- Bachelors in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics , or related field.
- Experience with regular expressions .
- Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, etc.
- Proficiency in Python .
- Experience with SQL , spreadsheets, and data analysis.
- Experience working with speech + text data .
- Familiarity with LLMs and prompt engineering .
- Strong communication + organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters or PhD in Linguistics or related field.
- Experience with ML frameworks, NLP tools, and libraries .
- 23 years prior experience as a Linguist.
- Experience in conversational AI, ML support, or LLM-related work.
