Scope of Position This position is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the ammonia refrigeration system, boiler, waste water/sewer, compressed air, fire suppression, HVAC, and building maintenance tasks as needed. It also involves preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on all equipment. Responsibilities Maintain and complete work orders and preventive maintenance paperwork in a timely manner. Maintain a log book of all breakdowns and corrective actions taken. Schedule shutdowns of equipment and machinery for repairs and maintenance without disrupting production. Maintain, repair, rebuild, and adjust ammonia refrigeration and related equipment by analyzing, calibrating, replacing, repairing, or rebuilding all equipment and machinery within established guidelines. Safely isolate and pump down any section of all systems. Perform routine maintenance on ammonia compressors, air compressors, boilers, or steam generators. Utilize time effectively to minimize equipment downtime and repairs. Follow lockout‑tagout (LOTO) procedures and be safety‑minded. Be a team player and seek guidance or help when needed. Be on call when needed and work independently if required. Receive and follow training on LOTO, fall protection, confined space, hot work, and any other safety training. Order materials and parts for stock or repairs. Maintain all engine rooms, compressor rooms, and roof areas in a high state of cleanliness. Work with outside vendors and technicians professionally. Assist maintenance technicians with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs as directed by maintenance leadership. Report directly to Maintenance Manager. Qualifications High School diploma or GED and 2+ years of maintenance, maintenance supervision, or process/project management experience. Must be a member of the Hazardous Materials Team (HAZMAT) and SCBA certified. At least two years in a refrigeration or boiler room preferred. Operator 1 and Operator 2 certifications preferred. Strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance and electrical functions. Ability to learn and follow directions from management and team leaders. Ability to follow and implement safety rules. Ability to read and write in English. Proficiency with time prioritization and planning. Computer skills for engine room functions and email. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Be safety‑minded. May be required to work long hours and weekends. Physical Demands / Work Environment Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle items, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear. Work in a plant setting that includes wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, and moving mechanical parts. Noise level is usually moderate but can be loud in the production area. Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
