Description:

For Garden’s Sake is a family-owned garden center and landscaping company, in operation since 1999. We are continually growing, and offer customers a one-stop shop for plants, landscape design/installation, and lawn maintenance services.

Working with us allows you to enjoy a beautiful, natural environment and resident goats, chickens, and ducks. You’ll be given opportunities to train, learn, and grow to your greatest potential. We prioritize caring for our employees as much as our customers. Get ready to dig deeper, reach higher, and grow together with For Garden’s Sake —where every plant needs a home and every home needs a plant!

THE POSITION:

We are seeking an experienced Retail Garden Center Manager to step into our vibrant world, where nature and commerce intertwine. In this pivotal role, you will orchestrate daily operations and utilize your innate leadership skills to nurture both people and sales/profitability. With your passion for plants and people, you will build and lead a talented team, cultivating a culture where every customer leaves with not just a purchase, but a piece of their own garden oasis. As a member of the FGS Leadership Team, your insights will guide us toward new heights of growth and innovation. This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact in a role that harmonizes leadership, creativity, and a love for the great outdoors!

This is a full-time year-round position paying $60,000 annually plus incentives . We offer paid time off and holidays; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; matching 401K; discounts at the Garden Center; and work-life balance. Advancement opportunities available as we continue to grow.

Work days are 8:45am - 5:00pm with one required weekend day and split days off . The workweek averages 40 hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employee Management and Training (40%)

    • Implement and oversee daily workflows and plant care schedules
    • Conduct annual employee performance evaluations to support professional development
  • Merchandising and Store Management (25%)
    • Guide purchasing decisions to maintain the correct inventory mix and levels according to departmental goals
    • Coordinate with owners and Department Leads to organize and facilitate seasonal changes of retail items
    • Maintain pricing policies for all retail products and services
    • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the garden center, ensuring a clean and inviting atmosphere

    • Address customer service issues promptly and effectively, representing the company’s values
    • Assist customers with plant selection and provide expert plant knowledge as needed
  • Financial Oversight (15%)
    • Assist in the development of weekly, monthly, and yearly operating budgets
    • Direct and manage the retail team to achieve sales and profit goals for each department

REQUIREMENTS:
