Contract: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights – 3×12s (6:45pm–7:15am)
Expected Hours: 36
Unit: Med Surg (Mixed Peds–Adult)

 

🔍 Quick Screening Requirements

• Experience: 2 years Med Surg required
• Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Charting: Meditech required
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 (days 1:4 / nights 1:5)
• Float: Required
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• PEDS exposure: Not required, but must be willing to care for peds patients
• License: Active OK or Compact RN license required at submission
• RTO: Must be sent with profile
• Certs Required:
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
• Preferred Certs: ACLS, CPI

🏥 Unit & Patient Info

• Mixed Peds–Adult Med/Surg (neonates through geriatrics)
• Daily census: 40
• Total unit beds: 66
• Typical diagnoses: CHF, pneumonia, COVID, flu, TB, cellulitis, UTI, AMS, stroke, pancreatitis, ortho, RSV, FTT, post-cath, post-delivery mother/baby, respiratory failure, SBO, more
• Peds patients are non-critical; avg. stay 1–3 days
• Strong support from charge nurse, house supervisor, RT, PT, pharmacy, radiology, social work

⚕️ Required Skills (to confirm during screening)

• IV therapy / phlebotomy
• Starting & maintaining IVs
• Accessing/managing ports
• Blood product administration
• Peripheral & central line management
• PICC management
• Respiratory skills: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, chest tubes, oxygen therapy
• GI skills: feeding tube & colostomy care
• Neuro: CVA care
• Wound care (Wound Vac preferred)
• Isolation precautions
• Basic cardiac monitoring
